An injection-molded plastic kit of the German medium tank Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf.L (Sd.Kfz.141/1) in 1:35 scale from the Japanese maker Tamiya. The model captures the later combat version with the long gun and the additional frontal armor. The box contains the parts of the hull, the turret and the running gear and a decal sheet for several machines from different theaters.
The Panzer III was the backbone of the German armored forces in the first years of the war. The Ausf.L version received a more powerful 5 cm gun with a longer barrel (KwK 39 L/60), which improved its penetrating power against Allied and Soviet tanks, and an additional spaced armor plate on the nose and the turret for better frontal protection. Tanks of this version fought on the Eastern Front and in North Africa before the Panzer IV and later types took over the role of the main battle tank.
First assemble and paint the running gear - the Panzer III has a distinctive torsion bar suspension with a large number of wheels. Glue the parts with a liquid modeling cement for plastic, sand the joints and apply a primer. Seat the spaced armor plates precisely. Shade the early war gray or the African and dark yellow camouflage with an airbrush and apply the decals over a gloss coat. On the tracks and the lower hull use washes and pigments for mud and dust effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
