Markings for a model of the Tiger tank

The sheet brings decals with markings for a model of the Tiger heavy tank in 1:35 scale. It complements or replaces the markings from the kit and is also useful where the original sheet has long since yellowed or cracked. You will find the set of markings and their placing on the vehicle in the enclosed instructions.

The real subject

The Tiger was a German heavy tank of the Second World War with an 88 mm gun, a boxy slab-sided hull and a characteristic interleaved arrangement of the road wheels. It was produced in relatively small numbers, but the individual machines are all the more carefully documented for that. The tactical numbers on the turret and the markings on the hull are what tells one vehicle from another, which is why it pays to stick to a single source for them and not to mix markings from several sheets together.

How to apply the decals

• coat the area under the decal with gloss varnish, as on a matte surface the decal turns white
• cut the marking out as close as possible and soak it in lukewarm water until it releases
• slide it onto the model from the backing and straighten the position while the carrier is damp
• draw the excess water off and let the decal dry without shifting it
• a softener will help the marking settle onto rivets and onto the rough surface of the hull
• fix the finished markings with matte varnish, so that the sheen of the carrier disappears

What is supplied is a decal sheet, that is, an accessory for the build. The model, paints, varnishes and decal softener are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
