A resin detail accessory from PANZER ART in 1:35 scale. The set represents improvised armor of bags filled with sand, of the kind crews placed on the front and the sides of the StuG III Ausf. F assault gun. This is not a model of the vehicle but a casting intended to complete a plastic kit. The light set version holds a smaller range of parts.
Sandbags served as added protection against shaped-charge munitions and splinters. Crews packed them around the bow and the sides of the superstructure, which gave the vehicle its characteristic packed look. The accessory brings the otherwise smooth surfaces of a model to life markedly and gives it an authentic front-line air.
First wash the parts free of release agent residue, cut the casting blocks off carefully and sand them with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Check the fit against the shape of your particular hull before fixing them. Pigments and a wash that stresses the cloth will bring out the texture of the hessian nicely.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
