A wheel set for the Sd.Kfz. 234, type 6 pattern

The sixth tread from the family of replacement wheels intended for models of the eight-wheeled reconnaissance car Sd.Kfz. 234, complemented by a spare. The word weighted says that the tire is not perfectly round but has a bowed footprint matching a standing vehicle. The number type 6 then specifies which tread pattern it is.

The support and anti-tank versions

Toward the end of the war the Sd.Kfz. 234 family grew by two heavily armed forms. The 234/3 version received a short 7.5 cm gun in an open superstructure and was to give reconnaissance patrols immediate fire support without having to call on the artillery. The 234/4 version, nicknamed Pakwagen, received a long anti-tank gun of the same caliber in the same place and turned a fast reconnaissance car into a tank hunter that relied on firing and driving off before its opponent could get its bearings. Both versions came about only in the last months of the fighting and their photographs are among the most frequently built subjects.

• The load footprint has to face the same direction on all the wheels, that is, downwards.
• The spare can be worked into the stowage or into a small scene around the vehicle.
• The kit of the armored car is bought separately.
