The Sd.Kfz. 7 was the best known of the German artillery tractors. It came into being at the Krauss-Maffei company and its main task was to get the 88 mm anti-aircraft gun and the heavy sFH 18 howitzer into position. The cab took the whole crew along with ammunition, which made the vehicle a practical unit that you will find in photographs from Norway to North Africa. Quadruple anti-aircraft mounts also rode on its bed.
The front wheels only guide the vehicle; the driving force is provided by the track. The set offers tires from the Fulda tire works with a road design, that is a denser and flatter pattern meant for hard roads. Such tires suit a model of a tractor employed in the rear area, on moves along a highway or in a training area, where the vehicles did not go into the mud. Compared with a coarse off-road tread the tires look calmer and let the shape of the rim stand out better.
A road tread will take noticeably less deposit than an off-road one, so go easy with dust and mud. You will achieve the best result with a faint light veil in the grooves and a cleaner surface where the rubber rubs against the road. It is usually advisable to shade the disk of the rim a little differently from the rubber, so that the two parts separate visually.
