An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Border Model. The key strength is the full interior and engine, together with workable tracks and suspension. The box holds photo-etched parts and four crew figures. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Sd.Kfz.251 was a German armored half-track, the backbone of the Wehrmacht's mechanized infantry. The Ausf.D version of 1943 was a simplified variant laid out for faster and more economical production, with sloped armor around 14.5 mm thick and a new shape at the rear. The 251/1 was the basic transport version for carrying an infantry squad. The vehicle served on every front until the end of the war.
On a model with a full interior, work from the inside out: assemble and paint the engine and the inside of the hull first, and only then close up the armor, because a finished interior is hard to reach. Build the workable tracks from individual links and leave them movable. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer and paint with an airbrush; a yellow base is typical, with brown and green stripes if you like. Pick out the recesses with a dark wash, bring up the busy surface with drybrushing and dust the running gear with dust and mud pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
