An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy half-track tractor Sd.Kfz.8 (12t) in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The model is richly broken down, with a detailed chassis and track assembly; depending on the contents of the box, photo-etched parts and individual track links are included as well. It is an unassembled and unpainted kit for gluing.
The Sd.Kfz.8 was a German heavy half-track tractor with a towing capacity of 12 tons, used throughout the Second World War. It served above all as a tractor for heavy artillery weapons, for example howitzers and guns of large caliber. It was built from the end of the 1930s and was deployed on practically every front, from Poland and France through the Eastern Front to North Africa and Italy.
Pay attention to the assembly of the running gear and the tracks before you finish the hull. It is a good idea to paint the cab and the cargo bed before they are closed up. For a faithful look use an airbrush for the base coat, dark washes in the details and pigments for dust and mud effects on the running gear. Before gluing, clean the flash and the remains of the sprue gates off the parts and test fit the individual pieces dry; glue with a liquid cement for plastic, which joins the seam firmly and cleanly. For better paint adhesion apply a primer first and spray in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush. Before weathering, even the surface out with a varnish and let every coat dry thoroughly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
