A turned barrel with breech for the heavy sFH 18 field howitzer in 1:35 scale from the brand PANZER ART. An accessory for a part-built model of the gun, not a stand-alone kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
According to the name, this set from the brand PANZER ART holds a barrel together with the breech of the German heavy sFH 18 field howitzer. It is an accessory for a base kit, not a model of the gun. The turned barrel replaces the plastic part and brings a straight axis, a clean circular cross-section and an open muzzle; the breech supplements the part of the weapon that is most visible on artillery models, because they are usually built with the cradle exposed.
The heavy sFH 18 field howitzer of 15 cm caliber was among the basic armament of German artillery in the Second World War. It was used on a towed carriage as well as being the armament of self-propelled carriages, so it suits models of artillery groups as well as dioramas with tractors. Its characteristic features are the massive breech and a fairly short barrel compared with antitank guns of similar caliber.
Cut the plastic barrel off at the cradle, level the mating surface and try the new part dry, so that it sits on the centerline. Degrease the set before gluing and use cyanoacrylate glue. It pays to concentrate on the breech when painting: bring the edges out with a dry brush and leave the contact surfaces with a metallic sheen, so that the weapon does not look like a single casting. Do not forget the primer before painting.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
