An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet KV-122 heavy tank from Trumpeter in 1:35 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; it is a plastic kit meant to be glued and sprayed. For the exact contents of the box, meaning the number of parts, the decals and any photo-etched parts or metal gun barrel, follow the enclosed instructions and the markings on the box.
The KV-122 was an experimental Soviet heavy tank that combined the hull and running gear of the KV family with a turret carrying the powerful 122 mm D-25T gun. That gun became the main armament of a new generation of heavy tanks and was famous for its large caliber and for the effect of its high-explosive shells against fortifications as well as heavily armored targets. The KV-122 thus formed a development bridge between the KV family and the series-built IS-2 heavy tank, into whose armament the 122 mm gun finally passed. Only a small number of vehicles were built.
With armored vehicles, finish the running gear, meaning the wheels and the tracks, and any interior before you close the hull. Spray the base coat over a primer and use thinned paints in the airbrush; for Soviet green, light lightening of the upper surfaces works well. Build the weathering with a wash in the corners and pigments for mud and dust effects on the tracks and the lower hull, and drybrushing will pick out the edges and the worn metal.
