This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter captures the Soviet T-72B main battle tank. The model is marked by a large number of parts, a slide-molded turret and lower hull, individual track links and photo-etched parts. Metal cable and material for wires are usually included as well. It is a more extensive build suited to more experienced modelers.
The T-72 is a Soviet second-generation main battle tank whose production began in the 1970s. It became one of the most widespread post-war tanks and the basis of its design was developed further all the way to the T-90 type. The B version brought stronger protection, including additional armor on the turret and the hull, an updated fire-control system and the ability to launch guided missiles through the barrel. The tank combines a low silhouette, a powerful 125 mm gun with an autoloader and good mobility.
Assembling the individual track links will take time and patience; it is practical to paint the tracks separately. First finish the running gear and the lower hull, and only then close the upper parts up. Paint the additional armor blocks on their own. Spray the base coat with an airbrush, highlight the edges and for the patina use a wash in the recesses and earth pigments on the running gear and the underside for dusty and muddy effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
