The AH-1G is the first series-built attack helicopter. It grew out of a proven utility design but received an entirely new, very narrow fuselage: the crew sits in tandem, the gunner at the front and the pilot higher up behind, so the frontal silhouette is barely a meter wide. The machine stands on skids, has stub wings at the sides with stations for rocket pods and containers, and under the nose a movable turret with gun armament. Power comes from a single turboshaft engine. In modeling it is a classic subject, popular for its distinctive shape as well as for its varied finishes.
This is an accessory for building the AH-1G in 1:35 scale, that is parts that are added to the model or with which you replace parts from the contents of the kit. The make-up of the set and the exact purpose of the individual parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions; follow them for the placement on the model as well.
Before gluing, wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry completely, because paint then holds considerably better. Cut surplus material and traces of production off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest away to nothing. The material of the parts is not stated here; resin and metal will not hold with cement for polystyrene, so make the joint with cyanoacrylate glue and, on larger parts, with epoxy. Apply a primer before painting, which unifies the surface and shows up small flaws before they appear under the covering paint.
For a modeler who builds the Cobra in 1:35 scale and wants to get the detail above the level of the box contents. Reckon on cutting away surplus material and on sanding; the assembly itself is then short.
