This is not a model of the vehicle but an accessory: a set of workable tracks for the early form of the American M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle and the M3 scout version in 1:35 scale. The track is made up of individual links that are put together into a working whole and replaces the one-piece track supplied in the box.
The Bradley has its running gear covered by side skirts only in part, so the track stays clearly visible - and it is on the track that you can tell whether an experienced modeler built the model. A one-piece track holds the shape of the mold and looks unnaturally taut in the upper run. A track made of individual links passes around the drive sprocket and the idler wheel without visible edges, drops of its own accord between the return rollers and adapts to the ground, so that the vehicle really stands on a diorama instead of merely lying on the base. The inner face of the links and the guide teeth stay readable too.
The M2 Bradley is an American infantry fighting vehicle taken into service in 1981. It carries a 25 mm autocannon and a launcher for anti-tank guided missiles, carries an infantry squad, and its scout counterpart M3 carries a larger stock of ammunition and a smaller crew instead of infantry. The early M2 and M3 versions differ from the later updates above all in armor and equipment, which feeds into the form of the running gear as well. The vehicle proved itself fully in the Gulf War in 1991.
Assemble the track according to the instructions on the finished running gear, so that it fits the spacings of the particular model, and work in shorter sections. A dark brown-gray paint will manage the base, over which comes a steel dry brush on the contact surfaces and a dust pigment into the corners of the links. On vehicles from desert service it pays to choose a lighter pigment and to apply it to the lower part of the hull as well.
