A heavy truck from Plauen

Vomag was an engineering works from Saxon Plauen which, besides trucks and buses, became renowned for producing armored hardware as well. The 8LR type belonged among the heaviest German trucks of its time and was used where a really heavy load had to be moved, whether it was supplies, engineering material or towing. With trucks it holds at the same time that the wheels form a markedly greater share of the overall impression than on armored vehicles, because the chassis is not covered by armor.

On heavy vehicles the rear axle has dual wheels, so work out in advance how you will reach the inner wheels with a brush. Paint them separately and fit them only at the end. Go over the tread pattern with a lighter dry brush and dust the sidewalls of the tire with pigment, but leave the tread cleaner, because it is continuously wiped by rubbing against the road. Do not forget that trucks tended to be far dirtier in photographs than fighting vehicles.
