1:35 Waffen-SS tank officer winter clotches No.1

The figure

The figure captures a German tank officer in winter clothing, according to the name a member of the Waffen-SS. The number in the name tells the individual items apart within a line in which several figures in the same dress appear. In 1:35 an adult figure measures about five centimeters, so both the cut of the clothing and the posture show on it. A figure beside a vehicle does more for the overall impression than any other add-on: it gives the model scale and brings movement into a static scene.

Preparing the parts

Cut the excess material off a little way from the part with a sharp blade and sand the remainder down carefully, so as not to sand away the edges of the clothing. Try the fit dry, above all at the hands and the head, where even a small deviation in angle changes the expression of the whole figure. A suitable glue and a detailed procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions. Before painting, wash and degrease the figure so that the paint holds on it; fingerprints show through a coat as matte patches.

• a figure in 1:35 scale
• the subject is a German tank officer in winter clothing
• the number in the name tells the items apart within the line
• a figure gives a vehicle model scale and action
• it is a good idea to paint the head and the hands separately

Painting

Winter clothing offers large continuous surfaces on which shading stands out; it is exactly on those that the difference between a flat and a living finish shows. Apply the paint in thin coats and build the transitions gradually, as going back is laborious. Paint the head and the hands separately and attach them only at the end, as a face is hard to reach with a brush on a glued figure. Check the particular shades of the equipment against the pictorial original you choose for the scene.

Terms of supply

The vehicle model, a diorama, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
