Responsibility details are not available.
The 1:35 Women mechanics set from the Czech manufacturer Black Dog belongs among collector figures for a diorama. It is not a model of a vehicle or of equipment: these are human figures in 1:35 scale that give a scene scale, action and a human dimension. The subject of women mechanics fits a workshop, a depot, field servicing and a civilian garage scene alike.
Figures in 1:35 are commonly combined with vehicles, equipment and diorama bases of the same scale. A character at an open hood, at tools or at a stripped-down unit explains at once what is happening in a scene and fills surfaces that would otherwise be empty. Servicing set pieces are among the rewarding themes precisely because tools, cans, crates and other small accessories can be worked into them. Black Dog offers this subject in separate items designated N°1 and N°2 as well, so a collection can be widened step by step.
The figures are painted separately from the rest of the scene and set in place at the very end. A thin continuous base coat, building the shade up in several layers and bringing out the folds of the clothing with a darker tone, so that the fabric does not come across flat, all do good service. For skin, gradual lightening of the raised places suits. A matte final varnish ties the surface together and holds unwanted shine down; it is just as well to apply it in thin coats, so that detail is not lost.
