It is a detail set of photo-etched metal, not a kit. The etched parts replace plastic parts that in reality have the thickness of sheet metal: fenders and their flaps, grilles over the engine compartment, tool brackets, plates and similar small things. The model thereby gains a realistic profile at the edges, which cannot be achieved with injection-molded plastic. The set is designated as the version for the late production of the Ausf.F1 and is cut for the particular kit stated in the name — before you buy, check that this is the one you are building, because the brand also offers a variant without this distinction.
The Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.F1 is a production version of the German medium tank from 1941 and 1942. Against the earlier series it was given stronger frontal armor, single-piece side hatches on the turret and wider tracks with matching wheels. In this guise the vehicle was still armed with a short-barreled gun of 75 mm caliber intended primarily for fire against field fortifications; late examples of the series differ from early ones in details of the exhausts, fenders and tool stowage, and it is precisely these features that the set deals with.
Snip the etched parts off the fret; do not break them out. Fold them in a bender or between two blades, always along the whole length of the fold at once. Degrease the parts and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue; on larger areas two-part epoxy helps, as it gives time to line things up. Before painting, apply a thin primer intended for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. Finish the running gear and the fenders before you close the hull; apply washes and pigments for weathering only to the finished assembly, so that they get into the nooks around the etched parts.
It is an accessory to a kit, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
