This set from the Czech maker Eduard is not a ship kit but a set of photo-etched parts with which you can refine a plastic model of the German battleship Bismarck in 1:350 scale. Photo-etch replaces coarser plastic features with thin metal parts, which on ships in the larger scales are the most visible of all.
On a ship photo-etched set of this type it is above all a matter of railings, ladders, radars, cranes, gun platforms and other fine features of the decks and superstructures. The set is divided into several frets and some of the parts are in a color finish. The result is a markedly more faithful and finer look to the finished model.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and make the bends over a bending tool for clean right angles. Bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate) applied in small amounts. It is a good idea to paint the railings and the ladders while still on the fret and to touch them up once glued.
The set contains only photo-etched parts, not a plastic ship model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
