Responsibility details are not available.
Plastic kit of the American Gato class submarine in her 1942 configuration, in 1:350 scale from the Taiwanese brand AFV Club. The model can be built either as a full hull or as a waterline version. The kit offers a well worked-out pressure hull, diving planes in the raised or the lowered position and fine photo-etched parts. The 1942 configuration corresponds to the early wartime arrangement with the taller conning tower. For the exact contents, follow the information on the package.
The Gato class was among the most successful submarines of the Second World War and formed the core of the US Navy submarine force in the Pacific. These long-range fleet submarines waged a relentless war against Japanese merchant shipping and sent hundreds of thousands of tons of enemy shipping to the bottom. In the early part of the war, which is what 1942 corresponds to, they still had the tall original conning tower, which was cut down in the following years.
Decide in advance whether you are building a full hull or a waterline version. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue and the plastic parts with thin cement for plastic. Spray the hull with an airbrush and pick out the decks with a dark wash. The model comes into its own on a display base or in a waterline diorama.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
