This kit from the Russian manufacturer Zvezda brings the Soviet multipurpose helicopter Mil Mi-8MT in 1:48 scale. It is an extensive injection-molded plastic model with a large number of parts, clear parts for the glazing and a richly rendered interior of both the cabin and the cargo hold, including the engines and the transmission. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Mi-8 is among the most widespread helicopters in history. The Mi-8MT version (known for export as the Mi-17) was given more powerful engines and an improved transmission, which improved its performance at high altitude and in hot climates. It served in transport, assault and combat roles with dozens of countries around the world.
Given its size and part count, this is a build for several evenings. Finish and paint the interior of the cabin and the cargo hold before you close the fuselage. Mask the extensive glazing carefully. The large fuselage surfaces come into their own with an airbrush and fine weathering in the panel lines. Balance the rotor blades and glue them firmly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
