This product is not a ship kit but an accessory for one. The wood veneer with an adhesive backing and pre-printed laying of the deck planks is glued onto the plastic deck of the model. The year in the name matters: the deck is cut for one specific form of the ship and for the Fujimi 60006 kit, and on a different configuration neither the outline nor the placing of the openings need fit.
The pre-printed laying is convincing in itself, but the deck gains real depth only after fine weathering. A very thin dark wash works well, applied with a fine brush so that it runs into the suggested seams, with the excess wiped off at once with a cotton swab drawn in the direction of the planks. Work in small areas; wood soaks quickly and dried excess can no longer be removed. A second coat can be added, but nothing can be taken away. Irregularities are desirable: a few darker spots by the superstructure and a lighter area in the middle look more convincing than even soiling across the whole deck. Seal the deck with a thin coat of varnish before weathering, as the wash is then easier to control.
The plastic has to be flat, degreased and dry. Pull the film off in sections, drive the air out to the edges and trim overhangs with a fresh blade. A final matte varnish unifies the sheen and seals the surface.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit. The kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
