This injection-molded plastic kit captures the Chinese amphibious transport dock of the Type 071 in 1:350 scale. The model from the manufacturer Trumpeter offers a well worked hull that, according to the instructions, can be built either as a full hull on a stand or as a waterline. Photo-etched parts for fine detail and railings are included, along with two helicopter models.
The Type 071 is a class of amphibious transport docks of the navy of the People's Republic of China. The ship serves to carry troops, vehicles, air-cushion landing craft and helicopters, and it allows a landing from a greater distance off the coast. In the stern it has a floodable well deck, a large flight deck and a hangar for helicopters; for self-defense it carries a 76 mm gun and close-in weapon systems.
Decide beforehand between the full-hull and the waterline version. Use a thin model cement on the plastic and sand the joints of the hull and the deck carefully. Glue the photo-etched railings and antennas with cyanoacrylate glue. The painting can be handled with an airbrush or a brush; a base primer and then accenting of the panels and the superstructure work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
