Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Chinese guided missile destroyer with hull number 139 (PLAN, the navy of the People's Republic of China) in 1:350 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter. The ship belongs to the modernized Project 956EM form of the Sovremenny type destroyers that China bought from Russia. The hull is split, so the model can be built as a full hull on a stand as well as a waterline version; the package usually holds photo-etched parts for the railings and fine items. Check the exact contents of the package and the part count against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Sovremenny type destroyers came about originally for the Soviet Navy as anti-ship and air defense vessels with a striking silhouette. The PLA Navy acquired several of these ships, and on the modernized 956EM variant the armament and the sensors were strengthened. Characteristic features of the class are the large anti-ship guided missiles and the pair of gun turrets. The ship represents an important intermediate step in the modernization of the PLA Navy around the turn of the millennium.
Decide beforehand on the full-hull or the waterline variant. Paint and pick out the superstructure and the launchers before the final assembly, and glue the fine photo-etched railings and antennas with cyanoacrylate glue. Tie the whole together with a primer and spray with an airbrush in shades of naval gray; bring out the panel lines with a dark wash and add a reasonable amount of weathering and traces of service.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
