A plastic kit of the German battleship Tirpitz from Tamiya in 1:350 scale. The model stands out for the accurately reproduced lines of the hull and the rich superstructure; the package holds injection-molded plastic parts, a display base and a name plate. It is a full hull model well known for the quality of its parts and for a pleasant build.
Tirpitz was the sister ship of the famous Bismarck and the largest battleship built in Germany. She spent most of her service in the Norwegian fjords, from where she threatened the Allied convoys and tied down large forces of the Royal Navy. Among other things she differed from Bismarck in her quadruple torpedo tubes. In the end she was sunk in 1944 by Royal Air Force raids with heavy bombs.
Build the large model in sections: the hull, the decks, the superstructures and the gun turrets. Use thin cement for plastic and masked airbrush coats following the period camouflage scheme. A primer base, fine strip detailing and railings are worth the effort for greater realism; the deck comes to life with glazes and a wash. The model is full hull and is displayed on the base supplied.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
