Wooden deck with masking film 1:350 for the aircraft carrier CV-10 Yorktown 1944 from Artwox Model brings a large-area veneer with pre-printed plank laying to the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
An extensive set of accessories for a ship kit in 1:350 scale. According to the name it holds a self-adhesive veneer deck with pre-printed plank laying and masking film. On an aircraft carrier the deck is the largest part of the whole model, and that is exactly why replacing engraved plastic with veneer shows so strongly.
A long part cannot be glued down all at once without rippling somewhere. First mark the axis and a few transverse reference points on the plastic in pencil. Take the covering film off only from the first few centimeters, seat the veneer at one end and press it down. Then work in short sections: release the film, line the edges up against the marked points, press down from the middle out to the sides. Air is thereby forced out ahead of you and does not stay trapped in the middle of the area.
Work at ordinary room temperature. In a cold room the adhesive is stiff and the veneer will not take hold; in an overheated one it takes hold too quickly and allows no correction. High humidity does wood no good, as the part may expand slightly. At the end, go over the whole deck with a soft cloth over a wooden block, so that the pressure is even. Pierce any bubbles with the tip of a scalpel along the line of a plank and smooth them over; the puncture will then not show.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package. The accessory is cut for one particular kit, Trumpeter 05603; please check the match before buying.
