An extensive accessory set intended for the plastic kit of the Iowa class battleship in 1:350 scale from the Very Fire range. On its own it is not a model: there are no parts of the hull or the superstructure in the package, but parts for replacing and supplementing the details that injection-molded plastic cannot capture at a corresponding thickness.
USS Wisconsin was one of the Iowa class battleships, the largest surface units of the US Navy. She served at the close of the Second World War in the Pacific, later in Korea and, after a deep modernization, again in the 1980s. Characteristic of her are three triple turrets of the main caliber, a massive bow section and a densely built-up superstructure, which on a model offers enormous room for detailing. Today the ship is preserved as a museum exhibit.
The set is intended for advanced builders. Bend the photo-etched parts in a photo-etch bending tool or between two blades, and never break them with your fingers. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue in minute drops applied with a wire; the excess is hard to remove and floods the detail. Degrease both the photo-etched parts and the plastic before gluing. Work through it by subassemblies and keep trying the fit dry, because after painting it is a matter of millimeters. It pays to paint by spraying in thin coats, so that the fine gratings and railings do not disappear under a thick layer of paint.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit of the ship, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
