A photo-etched set is a detailing accessory, not a standalone model. It holds accurately etched brass parts for improving the plastic kit of the battleship USS North Carolina in 1:350 scale. It typically brings fine railings, ladders, radar and crane grilles, details of the superstructures, the boats and the antiaircraft armament, which plastic cannot render faithfully.
USS North Carolina (BB-55) was the lead ship of the class of the same name of American fast battleships. During the Second World War she took an active part in the fighting in the Pacific, where she protected carrier task forces and supported landings with her main-caliber guns. She was marked by a heavy antiaircraft battery and a modern arrangement of superstructures.
Separate the parts carefully from the fret and bend them on a firm surface, ideally with a photo-etch bending tool. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or with epoxy. Paint the railings only once they are glued in place, best of all with an airbrush in the shade of the hull and the superstructures.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
