1:350 USS Sangamon CVE-26 is a photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard for a model of the American escort carrier USS Sangamon in 1:350 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the Czech maker Eduard holds photo-etched parts of thin sheet for a model of the escort carrier USS Sangamon in 1:350 scale. It is not a model of the ship but an accessory to a kit you have already bought. Etching can replace the elements that injection-molded plastic necessarily simplifies, because it cannot be molded thin enough. On ship models these are typically the railings, the gratings, the platforms, the deck fittings and the small structural details of the superstructures.
The USS Sangamon belonged to the escort carriers converted from the hulls of naval tankers. This group of vessels arose from the urgent need to add aircraft carriers quickly and cheaply. They were not enough for full task forces in either speed or capacity, but they proved themselves covering landings and protecting convoys. The Sangamon took part in the landings in North Africa and later in the operations in the Pacific, where the escort carriers bore the main burden of supporting the ground forces during the advance across the island chains.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface, not by twisting. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two blades, so that the edge stays straight. Photo-etch is glued with cyanoacrylate in drops applied on the tip of a toothpick. Fit the railings only after the deck has been painted, and once they are glued on spray them thinly, so that the openings do not fill in. Line the finished parts up against the plastic part beforehand, dry and without glue.
