The photo-etched set 1:350 USS Sangamon CVE-26 island from the Czech brand Eduard is made for detailing the superstructure of the escort carrier. It replaces the coarser plastic parts of the island with thin metal ones.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of photo-etched metal parts concentrating purely on the island, that is the command superstructure of the escort carrier. Eduard makes its photo-etch in Obrnice near Most and its ship line is among its most extensive. Alongside this set a separate photo-etch for the rest of the vessel also exists, so a modeler can choose how far to go in detailing.
USS Sangamon carried the hull designation CVE-26 and became the lead ship of the escort carrier class of the same name. It came about by conversion from a fleet oiler, which its more slender hull and smaller superstructure against ordinary aircraft carriers match. It was used during the Second World War both in the Atlantic and in the Pacific, where it carried out mainly escort and support tasks.
Cut the parts from the fret with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with scissors, as the edge would otherwise ripple. Make the bends over a metal rule or in a bender, always along the marked score line. They are glued with super glue applied with the tip of a wire, or soldered with low-melting-point solder paste. The metal is smooth, so a primer for metal belongs on it, otherwise the finish flakes off during handling.
The set is an accessory for a ship model; no vessel can be built from it on its own.
