An injection-molded plastic kit of the American destroyer USS Stevens (DD-479) of the Fletcher class in 1:350 scale from the brand I Love Kit. It is a new mold with rich contents: the model is built as a full-hull one, the package holds many parts, photo-etched detail, a metal anchor chain and a display stand.
The Fletchers were the most numerous class of American destroyers of the Second World War. USS Stevens was among the ships that experimented with shipboard catapult equipment for a reconnaissance floatplane; later it was rebuilt back to the standard gun and torpedo armament of the class. For its service the ship earned nine battle stars.
Glue the hull and the superstructures with classic thin cement for plastic, and the fine photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Before assembly, think through the order of painting the deck and the sides. The anchor chain and the photo-etched elements such as the railings and the radars add realism; airbrush painting is advisable, followed by washes and dry brushing to bring out the detail.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
