An add-on set for a model of the battleship USS Wisconsin BB-64 in her 1991 form, in 1:350 scale. It is prepared for the kit from Tamiya.
Responsibility details are not available.
USS Wisconsin BB-64 is one of the four battleships of the Iowa class. She entered service during the Second World War, was later laid up and in the 1980s returned to service in a modernized form: to the nine 406 mm guns in three turrets were added guided missiles and the detection and defense systems of the day. In 1991 she took part in the fighting in the Persian Gulf, and it is this late form of the ship that the set covers. The hull measures about 270 meters, so the model in 1:350 scale comes out at roughly 77 centimeters.
According to the name the set is prepared for the kit in 1:350 scale from Tamiya. Additions of this kind aim at the places where injection-molded plastic runs up against its limits, that is the thin and intricate elements of the superstructures and the deck. Compare the designation of your kit with the instructions for the set beforehand, so that the version of the ship matches too.
First go through the instructions for the set as well as for the kit and note which original parts are being removed. Separate the small parts with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest carefully. Choose the glue according to the material of the particular parts and apply it in small amounts; on intricate superstructures it pays to work in assemblies and let them dry.
For ship modelers who want to take the detail beyond the basic kit and have the patience for fine work. The kit itself, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
