A set of pre-cut masks in 1:12 scale for a model of the Ducati Superleggera V4 motorcycle. On motorcycles masking is even more rewarding than on cars: the fairing is all curves and a decal holds badly on it, whereas sprayed paint follows the curvature with no wrinkles and no visible edge of carrier film.
The Superleggera V4 is a limited lightweight version of the Italian marque's road four-cylinder machine, on which the maker reached for carbon composite not only for the fairing but for the load-bearing parts as well. It was built in a very small number of examples and is among the most exclusive production motorcycles of all. Its livery combines bold areas of color with the exposed structure of the composite.
Let the fairing cure thoroughly before masking; on fresh paint a mask will pull the color away. Press the edges of the masks carefully, and on curved shapes work the mask into the curvature gradually instead of stretching it. Spray in thin coats and take the mask off while the paint is not yet completely hard. If you are building the model for the look of carbon composite, lay the structure down first and spray the areas of color over it only afterward.
The masks are an accessory, not a kit. The model, the glue and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
