BBS is a German wheel manufacturer whose rims with a fine mesh pattern appeared on sports and racing cars of the 1970s and 1980s and became their mark. On a model a wheel is a small area, but it draws the eye first. The transition between the light rim and the black tire outlined with a brush meanwhile stays wavy almost always, even for a careful builder.
These are masking templates for painting the wheels in 1:24 scale. They define the boundary between the rim and the tire, so that you will spray the shade of the rim without overspray onto the tire and the edge will stay straight. How many parts the package contains, what material they are made of and how they are laid onto a wheel is stated by the manufacturer in the instructions to the set.
Wash the wheels with lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry off, as on a greasy surface a mask does not hold. Stick it on before spraying and press the edges down with the blunt tip of a toothpick, so that no paint gets under them. Spray in several thin layers instead of one thick one. Take the mask off shortly after spraying, while the paint has not cured completely, and peel it at an angle to the surface, so that the edge does not tear away.
For modelers who build road and racing cars in 1:24 scale and want the wheels finished to a clean edge. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
