A publication of the Ultra Detail Guide line of the Komakai brand, devoted to the McLaren M23 Formula 1 car in its 1976 form.
Responsibility details are not available.
The M23 is a Formula 1 car of the McLaren team which appeared in races for several seasons in a row. The year 1976 in the name is therefore essential: the car changed from year to year, the downforce surfaces front and rear, the cooling and the shapes around the driver's head were modified, so the form of the later seasons differs noticeably from the first one. Anyone building a particular year needs to know which of these modifications belong on the model and which do not.
The title belongs to the Ultra Detail Guide line, which the Komakai brand devotes to the detailed documentation of racing cars. On the cars of that time most of the mechanicals stay exposed: the suspension, the exhausts, the radiators, the tanks and the area around the driver's seat are visible on a finished model and cannot be hidden under bodywork. The reference also helps with the color scheme and with the placing of lettering, because these changed during the season and the same car looked different in the spring from in the autumn.
For builders of Formula 1 models, for anyone interested in the hardware of the seventies and for collectors of motorsport literature. It is a publication in its own right classed under literature; a model, a kit and decals are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
