A black tone from the range of the Number Five brand. The name aims at the black carried by Ford GT40 cars prepared for the endurance race at Le Mans. The paint is intended for plastic models and the accessories that go with them.

The subject for this shade

The GT40 built for Le Mans differed from the road form in everything essential: cooling, brakes, gearbox and the arrangement of the cockpit, because the car had to bear a whole day and night of full load. For the long straight it received longer gearing, the discs were changed on it together with the whole hub so as to cut a stop to a minimum, and a hinged nose gave access to the front suspension. Black bodies are among its iconic forms.

Use

• On a large body surface black behaves uncompromisingly, so do the sanding and the filling of the panel lines honestly beforehand.
• Stir the pigment up before work so the final tone does not vary between individual parts.
• Thin coats are a rule rather than a recommendation with black, as a heavy application rounds off body detail.
• If light stripes or numbers are to go on the model, count on them needing a proper ground over black.
