The shade is tied to the sport version of the Audi quattro, that is to the coupe with a shortened wheelbase that was created purely for rallying. White made up the base of its body, on which the colored stripes and race numbers only then stood out, and thanks to it you can also see well how unusually short and tall the silhouette of the car was.
The Sport quattro had its wheelbase shortened by about thirty-two centimeters so that it would change direction better in slow corners, and it kept the turbocharged five-cylinder and the four-wheel drive with which the brand transformed rallying. Drivers such as Walter Röhrl, Hannu Mikkola and Michèle Mouton took turns at the wheel, and in a later evolution the car received massive wings and one of the most dramatic forms rally machinery has ever had. The sound of the five-cylinder made it a legend even outside the circle of rally fans.
It will be appreciated most by modelers of rally machinery of the 1980s. The line holds several whites, because each comes from a different car, so it pays to choose by the real subject. With the shortened quattro it helps to compare which entry you are building: the short version raced only a few seasons, and between them the wings, the fender flares and the placement of the race numbers changed, which moves the division of the white differently every time.
