Red is one of the shades on which a whole model stands or falls, because it takes up the largest area and the eye notices it first. This tone is listed in the Number 5 range under the manufacturer's part number N5-C090 and takes its name from the subject designated T Model. It comes into its own on the body, on frames and rims, and on the small parts meant to step out of the model.
Sand the surface smooth, rinse it and degrease it. Acrylic paint holds poorly on greasy plastic and peels away with the masking tape when it is lifted. Stir the jar thoroughly before use, otherwise settled pigment will stay at the bottom and the coat will come out uneven.
Red pigments let more light through than dark shades, so the base underneath is what decides. Over a gray or patchy surface the paint turns brownish; over an even light base it stays rich. Apply several thin coats with a short pause between them, as one heavy coat floods the fine line work and builds ridges on the edges. Thin it with the thinner intended for this paint range; the thinning ratio and the airbrush pressure are given by the manufacturer in the instructions on the packaging. Lay masking tape down only on a fully dried coat, otherwise the edge of the overpaint will crumble.
For builders of car models who want a ready-made red for a given color scheme and do not want to mix it themselves. This is the paint on its own; the thinner, clear varnish and spraying equipment are not supplied with it, unless stated otherwise.
