The 288 GTO Red red is named after the Ferrari 288 GTO, the Group B homologation car of the middle of the 1980s.

The 288 GTO Red color is tied to a car that stands at the boundary between road and rally machinery. The Ferrari 288 GTO came about because of the Group B rules, and its red is among the most frequently built shades of Italian classics.
The 288 GTO was built from 1984 to 1987 and 272 examples were made. In shape it came from the 308 coupe of the time, but in reality it was a different car: the engine was mounted longitudinally, it had two turbochargers and the body received flared fenders with intake openings. The rally career the car was created for never came, because the class ended sooner. What was left of it was the ancestor of the brand's later limited sports cars and a collector high point of the 1980s. For a modeler the contrast of a red body with the black grilles at the rear is typical.
It suits builders of collector sports coupes who want a red bound to a particular type rather than a general red from the box. It will also serve well where a pair or a trio of models of related cars is being made and the character of the color is meant to stay uniform.
