Fluorescent blue is a fluorescent blue from the Number Five brand, the least usual member of the signal family, meant for the bright accents of present-day liveries and lettering.
Responsibility details are not available.
A signal orange and green are settled in modeling, while a fluorescent blue is a rarity against them. Number Five carries it as the darker blue tone of the fluorescent group, that is not as a pastel sky blue but as a saturated color that in the light leaps to the eye. On real cars blues of this kind appear in modern drift and tuning liveries, on lettering and numbers, on the emphasized edges of wings and spoilers and on supplementary elements whose only purpose is to be seen from the grandstand.
The difference does not lie in its simply being a more saturated shade. A fluorescent pigment changes the wavelength of the light falling on it, so the color looks one way outdoors, another in a display case under a spotlight and another in a picture from a light tent. A modeler used to comparing a color chart under one light tends to be surprised at how the result changes. Compare it therefore always under the same light that a finished model will have in photographs.
It is a color for a particular intention, not a universal blue for every build. Anyone looking for a tone for a whole body had better reach in the brand's range for one of the blues named after a particular car.
