Flyhawk HMS Achilles 1939 Deluxe Edition 1:700 is an extended release of the kit of the famous cruiser. The choice for modelers who want to get the maximum of detail out of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Deluxe Edition release from Flyhawk builds on the same base as the standard kit of the cruiser HMS Achilles, but adds supplementary detailing parts beyond the scope of the ordinary package. It aims at modelers who want to get the maximum out of the small 1:700 scale and like working with fine extras.
The light cruiser Achilles, a unit of the successful Leander class, served with a crew made up in large part of New Zealanders and became a symbol of the share the Pacific dominions had in the war at sea. After the famous clash with the ship Admiral Graf Spee she went on serving in the Pacific, where she supported Allied operations, and after the war she was handed over to the Indian Navy, under whose flag she bore the name Delhi for a number of further years.
Sort the extended equipment by subassemblies right at the start and work from the hull toward the superstructures. With the finest parts a magnifier and good tweezers with a fine tip will help. It pays to combine a brush for the small items with spraying the larger areas; in this scale the smoothness of the surface decides.
This is a kit: the parts are unassembled and unpainted, and the modeler acquires glue and paints separately.
