A car antenna of the first type in 1:24 scale from Yamamoto Model Parts replaces a coarse plastic molding with a finer accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is a small accessory for a build, not a model of a car. The antenna is one of those parts that kits handle worst: in plastic it comes out too thick, because a thinner molding would break in the mold. A separate accessory gets round that problem and offers a shape that looks appropriately thin at this scale.
A finished model is judged on its silhouette, and a vertical item above the bodywork gives the silhouette away at once. An oversized antenna looks like a stick and visually enlarges the whole car. The set is marked with a type number, because the brand offers several shapes side by side and the builder picks the one that matches their subject.
Work over a light-colored surface and with tweezers, because a part this small is hopeless to look for in a carpet. Drill the hole in the bodywork with the thinnest drill you have and widen the diameter gradually, so that the paint does not chip. Apply the paint in thin coats; a heavy coat would needlessly thicken the slim profile. Leave the fitting until the very end of the build, after the paint and the polishing are finished, when the bodywork is no longer handled much and there is no risk of the part catching on the table.
