A decal sheet for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.V, including the tropical version, in 1:144 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Spitfire Mk.V was the most numerously built version of this fighter and it was powered by the liquid-cooled Merlin V12 engine. The tropical version could be told at first glance: a bulky housing for a dust filter was added under the nose, without which the engine did not last long in a sandy environment. In the Mk.V version the Spitfire reached the skies over Europe, the Mediterranean and North Africa.
The sheet brings markings for the Spitfire Mk.V and its tropical version in 1:144 scale. In this scale it is the printing that decides the result: the model is small, so the roundels, code letters and national insignia carry most of the information about whose machine you are building and where from. Which particular machines the sheet covers and which kit it is cut for are given in the enclosed instructions.
The surface under the decal should be smooth and glossy, otherwise matte edges will appear under the film. Cut the element out together with its margin, soak it for a few seconds, slide it off the paper onto the model and settle it with a brush. A decal softener will help the decal to adhere over rivets and panel lines. Finally varnish the area, so that the edge disappears.
For builders in small scales who want to give a model a particular identity. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
