The accessory is intended for working up the inside of the twin-rotor CH-47F transport helicopter from the Italeri kit in 1:48 scale. The elements have a three-dimensional structure, so that once laid on they come across as raised displays, keypads and upholstery. The package does not contain the model of the machine; it is assumed that the base is already to hand.
The CH-47F is the current production stage of the Chinook for the US Army. Against older versions it received a digital crew station with large screens in place of a jumble of round dials, a stiffer milled structure of the front part and measures against vibration. The Chinook family has served without a break since the 1960s and is among the longest-produced helicopters of all, which makes the F version a rewarding counterpart to period machines from Vietnam.
First paint the inner surfaces and let them cure properly, and only then seat the elements. The displays of the modern crew station look best when they are sealed with a gloss coat once dry, while the surroundings stay matte. The large cargo section is managed more quickly if the parts are laid out on paper in advance according to where they belong.
