1:48 US combat Boots, Jungle (Panama) from Firma49 brings American tropical footwear for figures in a small scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small accessory intended for figures and scenes in 1:48 scale. The set offers the footwear alone, so it serves both when reworking the stance of a figure and as a loose piece of equipment beside an aircraft, a shelter or a crate of supplies. The Panama qualifier in the name points to the sole tread typical of American tropical boots.
Boots for the tropics solved the problem on which ordinary field footwear failed in heat and damp. The tall fabric upper above a leather toe is light, breathable and after a soaking can shed the water through drainage eyelets above the sole. The sole pattern named after Panama works with pronounced angled blocks that push out trapped soil with every step. Footwear built this way became a common part of American equipment in tropical regions and its shape stayed recognizable through later revisions.
In 1:48 scale the cleanness of the joint matters more than the amount of detail: level the mating surfaces carefully and only then deal with the color. A darker base coat and a dry brush in a lighter tone work well, lifting the edges of the sole and the lacing. Keep the patina restrained so that the accessory does not overpower the rest of the scene.
