A kit of the British two-seat training Vampire from the Swedish maker Pilot Replicas. The model in 1:48 scale captures the machine on which whole intakes of pilots learned to fly jet hardware in the fifties. The size of the model allows you to concentrate on the interior as well as on fine surface detail.
The Vampire T.11 arose from the conversion of the single-seat fighter into a school aircraft with two seats side by side. The Royal Air Force took it on at a time when it needed to convert pilots quickly from propeller-driven trainers to jets, and the type filled this role for more than ten years. Later examples received ejection seats and a modified canopy with better visibility. The unmistakable pair of tail booms and the short nose remained, so even the training version kept the silhouette by which the type is recognized at first glance.
The conspicuous training markings put the emphasis on the quality of the decals, so apply them to a gloss surface and use decal softener. Sand the inside of the air intakes smooth and paint it before the fuselage is joined. When building the seats, do not forget the belts; at this size they are clearly visible. The transition between the booms and the wing is worth checking against the light before painting.
This is an unassembled kit without paints. Glue and modeling tools are not enclosed.
