This sheet from the Mark I brand is aimed at the national marking of the Swiss Air Force and is prepared for models in 1:72 scale. It comes in handy where a kit offers no Swiss form at all, or where the supplied decals do not have clean artwork.

A marking recognized at first glance

Swiss machines wear a white cross on a red field, that is a motif taken from the national flag. It is one of the few markings that has kept the same graphic essence across the propeller and the jet era, so a set with it has wide use on machines of various ages.

What to watch out for when applying it

• The red field covers richly, so the base must not show through; use a smooth, even spray.
• Place the marking according to the drawing and check the position while the decal can still be moved.
• On rounded surfaces a softener applied in small doses helps.
• Do not run a fingernail over the damp print; the artwork wipes away easily.
• Unify a dried decal with its surroundings with a covering clear coat.

It is practical for building machines from license production too, where the national marking often differs from the original version the kit assumes.
