Train Detail No. 3 LED Set for EF66 from the Japanese maker Aoshima is a lighting set for a model of the EF66 electric locomotive in 1:45.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an add-on set, not a model of a locomotive. It belongs to a line of detail add-ons with which the Japanese company Aoshima extends its railroad kits in 1:45, and its purpose is to light a finished model up. Lighting changes the feel of a display case more than any other detail, because lit headlights give a static model an immediate sense of being in service. The set is made for a model of the EF66 electric locomotive.
The EF66 is a Japanese electric locomotive built for fast freight traffic and later used at the head of long-distance passenger trains as well. Its mark of recognition is the strongly shaped front end with its glazing and headlights, which makes it one of the most distinctive machines on the Japanese railroad. The front end is exactly the place where lighting tells most on a model.
Plan the wiring out before you start gluing the body of the locomotive, because once it is closed you will no longer reach the inside. Run the wires so that they do not get in the way of seating the parts, and treat the joints so that they cannot short against metal parts. Spray the inside of the body matte black, or the plastic will glow through and light will escape where it should not. Do not glue the light pipes and the lenses with ordinary cyanoacrylate glue, as its fumes will fog them; use glue for clear parts. Test that the circuit works before you glue anything shut.
This is an add-on set, not a model of a locomotive. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
