Double-sided set of masking parts for the glazing of the T-28B/D Trojan model in 1:32 scale, shaped for the kit from the Kitty Hawk company.
Responsibility details are not available.
The T-28 Trojan was an American trainer from which versions adapted for light combat use also grew. The set of masks is intended for a model of the B and D versions in 1:32 scale and, according to the name, is shaped for the kit from the Kitty Hawk company.
Precisely shaped masking parts for the canopy glazing, and that in a double-sided rendition, that is for the outer as well as the inner side of the canopy. Inner masking pays off on cockpits that stay open or are clearly transparent: the framing then reads as painted from both sides, as it is on the real machine. The parts and their placement are listed in the manufacturer's instructions.
First wash and degrease the glazing; on a greasy surface a mask will not hold and the paint will creep underneath. Lift the parts with pointed tweezers, seat them dry in place and press them down with a soft tool, especially around the perimeter. Masking is done before spraying; then apply the paint in several light coats, so that no coarse step forms at the edge of the mask. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried and pull them at an angle across the edge; with a fully cured coat there is a risk of the varnished edge lifting as well.
The set saves the laborious cutting of strips from masking tape, and that especially in the large 1:32 scale, where the framing of the cockpit is prominent on a model. The shapes are tied to the named kit and need not fit a model from another maker. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
