A base capturing the deck of the carrier Zuikaku in her 1944 state in 1:48 scale gives a model the setting of the ship's last year of service.
Responsibility details are not available.
The artwork refers to the flight deck of the Japanese aircraft carrier Zuikaku as it looked in the last year of her existence. The item is not a kit of a ship or of an aircraft; it is a base on which a finished model stands and gains a connection with the setting it belonged to.
The year 1944 meant the end of an era for the Japanese carrier forces. In June the Zuikaku took part in the Battle of the Philippine Sea, where Japanese aviation suffered losses it never recovered from. The ship was then assigned to a force whose task was to draw the American carriers away from the landing at Leyte, and during that operation she sank off Cape Engano in October 1944. She was the last of the ships that had taken part in the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and had survived until then.
The dark area of the deck contrasts excellently with the lighter undersides of fuselages and wings, so the model needs no special emphasis. If you are building a machine with flaps lowered or wings folded, place it closer to the edge: the silhouette will read more clearly. Before photographing, wipe the surface with a soft cloth, because every speck of dust shows up on a smooth area as a light point.
