A hand tool of the PRO WING line serving to divide the surface of a model. The designation gives tungsten steel, that is a hard material for the edge, which stands up even to work in tougher materials than soft polystyrene.
The division of a surface is not just decoration. A wash is drawn into an engraved groove by capillary action, and it is from that shadow that the impression arises of a model made up of individual panels. When the groove is too shallow, the wash does not hold in it and the surface is left without expression. The same problem arises after a gap has been filled: the material closes the groove and the division has to be restored by hand. That is why a scriber belongs in the toolbox before most finishing aids.
The color added in the name after the designation of the piece distinguishes the individual forms within the same line. It therefore serves for orientation, not for decoration, and makes it easier to reach for the right piece in the stand without a long search. We recommend the tool to those who already have experience with working on surfaces, because a scribed track is hard to put right afterwards. Storing it away from the rest of the tools will extend its usable life far longer than you would expect.
