The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is built with cement for plastic. It is a small aircraft, so the finished model does not take up much room in a display case.
The DA-42 is an all-composite four-seat twin of Austrian design that found its place mainly in flying schools and in private operation. Its main asset is economical engines burning aviation kerosene: both fuel consumption and operating costs are markedly lower than with conventional twins, which made the type a popular machine for instrument flight training and for practicing twin-engine operation. The VI variant is the later, modernized form of the machine with a revised powerplant and aerodynamic changes that raised performance and cruising speed. Characteristic features of the aircraft remain the slender wing of large span, the T-tail and the extensive cockpit glazing.
Amodel belongs to short-run production: the parts are waiting for the mold seams to be sanded away and it pays to dry-fit them before gluing. Glue the slender wing while checking the dihedral, so that the model does not sit crooked. The cockpit glazing is a large area on this type, so paint and fit out the cockpit before the canopy is seated, and mask the frames with precisely cut tape. The white or light color of a civil machine calls for a proper filling primer and several thin coats; a gloss clear coat under the decals helps so that the registration marks do not leave visible edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
